Viva Tierra Organic, Inc. was founded in 1993 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington as an outgrowth of an organic produce sales agency founded by Roger Wechsler in the Skagit Valley in 1984. Roger's Brokerage became Cascadian Farm Fresh in 1989 when Roger merged his company with Cascadian Farm.
The Viva Tierra Organic brand, established in 1993, is well known for high quality organic fruits and vegetables grown throughout the Americas. We also sell for a number of growers under their own labels, and custom pack for our large retail customers under their brands.
"Viva Tierra" is a Spanish phrase that can be literally translated as "Live Earth" or "Living Earth", but also caries an additional idiomatic meaning, more akin to "Long Live the Earth" or an exclamation of approval, such as "Hooray for Earth!" This sentiment embodies the company's philosophy and commitment to sustainable, organic agriculture and fresh, wholesome produce.
